A toolkit for task-oriented log data analysis and usability metrics

Allowing actual users to go about their jobs in real environments, with no one around to watch or pressure them—those are ideal conditions for conducting usability analyses.

This kind of remote usability evaluation makes it possible to use log data as a starting point for a task-oriented approach. With that approach you can measure efficacy and efficiency as experienced by real users performing transactional tasks. This is accomplished as they interact with a system at home or in the office, with no interference from the evaluator.

At Interfácil we are proud to be a part of the UseMonitor implementation project. UseMonitor is the first log analysis tool—specifically developed by Walter Cybis—to generate usability metrics.

The UseMonitor toolkit, intended for webmasters and usability specialists, provides user efficiency metrics for typical transactional tasks of B2C, B2B (including ERP) applications, home banking, etc. It works for access via Internet web sites, mobile phones, PDAs or digital TV.

If you are responsible for a web site that supports transaction tasks, and you are interested in participating in UseMonitor testing, contact us Tell us about your site and what you expect from a usability study.
